Rescuers in Nha Trang searched overnight to save two Russian tourists who lost their way on Co Tien Mountain, a popular hiking and camping spot above the coastal city in central Vietnam.
The men, aged 31 and 38, set out on the afternoon of Sept. 3 but became disoriented by nightfall, exhausted and unable to find the trail. They phoned acquaintances for help, triggering a large search operation.
Six police officers, supported by local authorities and experienced climbers, scoured the mountain and eventually found the pair near a dry stream about three kilometers from the base at around 1 a.m. on Sept. 4.

Rescue team member Anh Dung said the tourists had strayed off the marked trail, and fatigue combined with darkness left them panicked and unable to navigate.
Rising 400 meters with three adjacent peaks, Co Tien Mountain is a favorite spot for campers and sightseers. Veteran hikers warn that first-time visitors should go with experienced guides, prepare physically and avoid climbing at night to prevent accidents.
