An act of generosity from the owners of Culdees Castle in Muthill is set to benefit Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland while giving a lucky winner an overnight stay for two at the secluded estate.
Tracey and Robbie Horton have donated a night in one of the estate’s glamping pods to help raise funds for the charity.
And it’s all thanks to Tracey’s friendship with Debbie Matthew, a stroke survivor and ambassador for CHSS.
Tracey said: “I met Debbie when I bought some candles from her and we have become really good friends. Her story of her stroke and recovery is very poignant and she has been through a lot.
“I wanted to do something positive for the local community and to honour my friend, and what better way than to offer a Christmas present for someone?”
The Hortons have set up a JustGiving page and anyone who donates a minimum of £25 will have a chance of winning the night in the Drummond pod on the estate on Thursday, December 23.
All the money raised from the online fundraiser will go to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
Tracey moved from Kent with her family in 2019, intent on restoring Culdees Castle Estate and turning the historic site into a holiday and wedding destination.
And Debbie, who lives in Comrie, has become involved with volunteering with the restoration work at the castle.
Debbie commented: “Tracey and I just clicked and have become such good friends. She said she was inspired by my story, and to give away a night like this is such a lovely gesture.
“I’ve stayed in the glamping pod, and it is amazing, real high-end luxury. Whoever stays there will be truly spoiled.”
Jen Lindsay, fundraising manager at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, said: “This is such a generous gift and I thank Tracey and Robbie so much for supporting us.
“Also, thank you to Debbie for her continued support of the organisation, we are so lucky to have such a great ambassador.
“This winter will be especially hard for people living with our conditions so any funds raised will make sure that people leaving hospital will get the help that they need when they need it most.
“Your donation to win this prize will help people to do more than survive.”
The pod features a king-size bed and its own spa hot tub, and the couple who claim the prize – who must be over 18 – will also luxuriate in their own gown and slippers as they enjoy a night under the Strath stars.
