SINGAPORE — The Mandai Wildlife Reserve has issued a warning to the public about a scam site that has been mimicking its official website and selling fake discounted tickets to the Singapore Zoo for $10.
A normal adult ticket for the zoo costs $48, while a child ticket costs $33.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (5 April), the Mandai Wildlife Reserve revealed that it had reported the fraudulent site to the authorities. It has urged the public to be vigilant and not fall for this or any other phishing site claiming to sell its tickets.
The scam site, which has been circulating on social media, is not authorised by Mandai Wildlife Reserve to sell tickets, and all sales of admission tickets should be done directly through the official website or via authorised travel agents.
The police told Yahoo Southeast Asia on Thursday (6 April) that the scam site has since been blocked.
Caution against phishing sites
The Facebook post also cautioned against providing personal information and payment details on or to these phishing sites, and discouraged sharing of these links on social media.
The Singapore Zoo, renowned for its collection of wildlife and interactive exhibits, recently launched a new glamping program that allows visitors to camp in the wild, offering a unique experience for nature enthusiasts.
In addition, the neighbouring Bird Paradise, home to over 3,500 birds of various species, is set to open next month, adding to the attractions of Mandai Wildlife Reserve.
