Silolona, with its dramatic black sails, makes quite the impression as it weaves its way through the Indonesian islands. A contemporary take on the traditional Indonesian sailing ship, the 50-metre luxury wooden schooner was built by Sulawesi craftsmen and is fitted with all the right modern comforts, like air conditioning in each stateroom.
There are five in total, along with common spaces like the spectacular teak deck built for al fresco dining, sunbathing and stargazing.
Itineraries can be customized according to your interest – whether that’s diving in kimodo or a cultural sojourn in Papua.
In fact, when Tatler interviewed actress Susan Sarandon TKTK, she told us that her time on board Silolona is one of her most memorable trips, saying, “[We] went through the Ring of Fire, which was just extraordinary. It was a once- in- a- lifetime kind of trip that I took with a few friends. I slept on deck, watched the sunrise and sunset and went snorkelling with whale sharks.”
Silolona sails according to the seasons – sailing in Indonesia from April to November, before sailing up to the West Coast of Malaysia, Thailand and up to Myanmar from December to March.
